Performing Arts

Picture of Student practicing BalletSWADA (The South West Academy of Dramatic Arts) is open to all students over the age of 16 who have a keen interest in performing arts and wish to pursue a career within this industry.

Building on the success of the Performing Arts Department, SWADA has helped train many young performers to go on to making their name professionally.
The focus of SWADA is on performance skills, supported by a range of academic areas.

Subjects available to students include Dance, Performing Arts, Music and Technical Theatre, Acting and Musical Theatre.

Why Choose SWADA?

Working with tutors who are professionals within their own fields, you can study Dance, Acting, Technical Theatre, and Music from First Diploma up to Foundation Degree level.

Many of our students have gone on to study at drama schools such as The Bristol Old Vic, Central School of Speech and Drama, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, ALRA, E15, The Guildhall and other well-recognised drama schools. The majority of students will proceed to university to take a vocational degree or to pursue work in their chosen profession.

All the productions are highly professional and students are given the opportunity to take shows on tour. At all times, we aim to give students a taste of life in the industry, with all that it demands. And we have fun!

Working to tight deadlines, you will, on some of the courses, be encouraged to use the facilities available to undertake such projects as radio and video production. The brand new vocational campus
