“Club 14-19” has been launched in response to the growing demand for Travel, Tourism and Resort Management courses at the college. The “Club 14-19” provides courses for aspiring Holiday Reps, Hotel Managers, Tour Operators, Flight Attendants, or anyone with a keen interest in a career in Travel and Tourism.

Picture of palm trees and boat The Travel and Tourism industry represents a broad range of businesses and the growth of these has opened up many job opportunities. Management and supervisory level positions are available in such businesses as travel companies, airlines, local government tourism and leisure offices, theme parks, entertainment complexes, accommodation units, theatres, food and beverage outlets, national government institutions and cultural centres.

The industry is looking for well-educated, committed, enthusiastic and creative professionals to successfully manage, change and meet the needs of their customers. Filton College’s “Club 14-19” Travel & Tourism programmes have been designed so that students gain a thorough understanding of this expanding and dynamic industry.

Specialist areas of the syllabus incorporate detailed, hands-on study of working in the industry and the opportunity to travel overseas to observe Travel and Tourism in action.

Kirsty Fillingham, Learning Area Manager for Travel and Tourism commented, “Club 14/19” is the exciting new department of Travel & Tourism here at the College and is the result of our Travel and Tourism courses growing steadily in size and popularity.

The Eiffel TowerWe have had over 500 students achieve in Travel & Tourism related qualifications in recent years and we are delighted to be offering an even wider portfolio of courses which mirror the courses in demand - this is certainly an exciting time for “Club 14-19”.

There are currently thousands of job vacancies in the Tourism and Leisure industry in the United Kingdom and this is fuelling demand for well qualified Travel and Tourism students.

For those students already at Filton College, there are clear routes of progression and as there is a heavy assignment workload, attaining a Literacy/Communication qualification in Key Skills Communication is therefore, a compulsory qualification for any student who wishes to progress on Travel Courses.
