The Bristol Zoo Gardens is committed to conservation and research and works together with other zoos and associated organisations to breed endangered species, protect natural habitats and prevent their destruction.

The Bristol Zoo Gardens provides the perfect environment for students studying horticulture and conservation, as it has over 160 years of nurturing plants and gardening artistry and has established 12 acres of rare beauty and outstanding variety. Apart from the fascination of the animals, the Bristol Zoo Gardens provide botanical and educational interest as well as an enjoyable horticultural experience for all. The Gardens are also home to the NCCPG (National
Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens) collections of Caryopteris and Hedychiums.

Another key partner in the horticultural course developments is the University of Bristol. Along with the Bristol Zoo Gardens, the University will support and advise, provide practical work experience, conduct trainee appraisals, and provide specialist-learning resources for students.
