What you will need:
There is a strong demand for trained individuals to work in Childcare and Early Years Education.
Britain faces strong demand for childcare services as more families ‘outsource’ household labour. There are 11.5 million children under the age of 16 in Britain. According to the Family Policy Studies Centre in the UK, approximately 7.6 million of these children live in households where both parents are at work. This implies that at some point someone other than their parents cares for some two-thirds of the nation’s children.
Research by the Childcare Commission indicates that over 300,000 new workers are required over the next four years. Demand for childcare is creating thousands of new jobs in local communities.
Employment opportunities include: nursery assistant, crèche assistant, playgroup assistant, parents’ helper, nursery officers, private nannies and opportunities in Higher Education, Teacher training and paediatric nursing.
We have outstanding relationships with providers of Early Years training. College facilities include a simulated nursery environment and students across the courses undertake a range of childcare work experiences.
