England Basketball & Filton College agree AASE partnership

England Basketball is pleased to announce that Filton College will be undertaking the role of Lead College in the ongoing roll-out of the Basketball Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) from September 2010.

England Basketball will continue to take the strategic lead on the programme with Filton College providing the essential back office functions such as with student tracking, quality assurance, internal verification and the responsibility for financial auditing. The partnership should provide a cost effective and efficient service to the delivery partners and to ensure the scheme exceeds minimum national standards.

Kevin Hamblin, principal of Filton College said: “We are delighted that we have been given this opportunity to work with such a proactive and professional sport. Filton College has a lot of experience in delivering AASE and we will use this expertise to provide quality and structural support to the programme on behalf of England Basketball.

The AASE programme is a flagship programme, not only for basketball, but for sport in a wider context and it is important that the AASE is delivered well, to a uniformly high quality and athletes progress after the course both academically and from a sporting perspective. I am sure that with the calibre of the delivery partners, the work already undertaken by England Basketball and with our input, this scheme will go from strength to strength.”

Charlie Ford, England Basketball AASE administrator is looking forward to working with Filton College and summarised the partnership by saying: “The partnership with Filton College is a huge step forward for the AASE basketball programme both in terms of quality and funding management. It is important to partner with an institution that has an established basketball pedigree and also one that is fully committed to England basketballs AASE objectives.

I am really looking forward to working closely with Kevin Hamblin and his team to offer and deliver the best quality programme that we can.”
